BlackDrop Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 20, 2026
BlackDrop is a minimal browser extension that lets you pick colors from any web page with one click.
Data we collect
BlackDrop does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. We do not use analytics, trackers, advertising identifiers, or telemetry of any kind.
Local processing
When you start the color picker, BlackDrop captures a temporary screenshot of the active tab and keeps it in memory only while the picker is open. The pixel you click is read on-device, the HEX value is copied to your clipboard, and your recent color history is saved locally in your browser.
Nothing you capture or pick is uploaded to a server, shared with third parties, or accessible to the developer.
Browser permissions
BlackDrop requests the following permissions only so it can perform its core function. Each permission is used locally and never to extract data without your action:
- activeTab — to access the current tab when you open the color picker.
- scripting — to inject the picker overlay into the page you are viewing.
- storage — to save your recent color history locally on your device.
- clipboardWrite — to copy the selected HEX color to your clipboard.
- host permissions — to run the picker on any website you choose to use it on.
Third parties
BlackDrop does not send data to external servers, analytics services, or any third party. All functionality runs inside your browser.
Your choices
You can remove or disable BlackDrop at any time from your browser's extension manager. Uninstalling the extension deletes all locally stored data, including any history or settings it has saved.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated effective date will be posted here. BecauseBlackDrop does not collect personal data, changes will only clarify how the extension operates or how locally stored data is handled.
